Source control
Keep Salesforce and git in step.
Connect the git provider you already use. Compare a branch with an environment, commit what was built in a sandbox to a new branch, and validate each pull request against the environment it is going to.
Git connections start on Solo. Pull request validation is on Team and above.
Your provider, cloud or self-hosted
- GitHub and GitHub Enterprise Server.
- GitLab and GitLab Self-Managed.
- Bitbucket Cloud and Bitbucket Data Center.
- Azure DevOps and Azure DevOps Server.
- Other git hosts, with an access token.
Access is by a token you create with the provider; the dialog lists the access each provider needs. Tokens are encrypted before they are stored.
From a sandbox to a pull request
- Compare an environment with a repository branch, in either direction.
- Commit the selected components to a new branch, then open the pull request.
- Repositories are read in Salesforce DX source format, from the package directory in sfdx-project.json.
- Pipelines merge and deploy the pull requests you promote.
Pull requests checked before they merge
With repository events from GitHub, a stage can validate each new pull request and each new commit on it against the stage environment, and post the result to the pull request as a status.
- A validation only: nothing is merged or deployed.
- The status names the environment and the number of components, with a link to the validation.
- Deploy when merged deploys a merge into the stage branch.

Questions about source control
Which git providers work with Metacaliper?
GitHub and GitHub Enterprise Server, GitLab and GitLab Self-Managed, Bitbucket Cloud and Bitbucket Data Center, Azure DevOps and Azure DevOps Server, and other git hosts that accept an access token.
How does Metacaliper find the metadata in a repository?
It reads sfdx-project.json for the package directory, the Salesforce DX source format. You can set another directory when you add the repository.
Can I get changes made in a sandbox into git?
Yes. Compare the environment with the repository, select the components, and commit them to a new branch. Metacaliper then opens the pull request page of your git provider.
Compare your first two environments today
Every new workspace has the Team plan for 14 days, without a card. Then the Free plan keeps comparing two environments, with no time limit, until the team starts a paid plan.
